Unpardonable Trumpet Blowing

With The Two Unfortunates having reached the grand old age of 2, we’ll need to keep plugging away for another year to emulate the life span of a worker bee or queen ant. However, several hundred posts down, I thought it was high time to draw readers’ attention to some of our contributors’ work that has appeared from without the auspices of TTU.

Of those with direct posting privileges, several generally see this as a moonlighting opportunity to squeeze in alongside their days jobs. In recent days, Matt Rowson of BHaPPY has once again been forced to react to the departure of a bright young managerial talent from Vicarage Road and while expressing mild disappointment that he has upped sticks to a Cardiff City in probable decline, pays fulsome tribute to Malky Mackay’s spell at the helm.

Elsewhere, Ben Woolhead continues to blaze the trail that inspired us to commence blogging at Black and White and Read All Over. Intriguing Francophone signings have been the order of the day at the Toon but the primary cog in their promotion campaign of a year ago has exited the other way with Ben reacting to this slightly baffling occurrence here.

A few miles to the south, Mike Baker continues the fine work at SmogBlog, indulging in that favourite pastime of football fans everywhere – speculation over summer signings. Click here to see what Mike thinks of the prospect of Michael Brown and Ched Evans arriving on Teesside.

William Abbs has been busy with a new job that forces him to watch the likes of Lorient and Arles-Avignon 24 hours a day, but he has nevertheless found the time to provide his favourite XI for Two Footed Tackle and his most dislikable choices for A United View on Football, just as I myself have done here and here (fans of Bolton full back Paul Robinson should switch off now).

Indeed, my own extracurricular efforts have become legion to the extent that my fellow founder Lloyd has had to have words. Still, to round some of them up, here’s me for In Bed with Maradona on football in Taiwan and the impact of shrinking cities on regions’ footballing fortunes; for Twisted Blood on a certain Yorkshireman called Warnock, for The Real FA Cup on Reading’s quarter final visit to Manchester City, for The Seventy Two on my top five Royals of the decade and, just yesterday, for Two Hundred Percent on that old bastion, Elm Park.

Cheers for the plug! We may have inspired you, but you've forced us to try and up our game…
