Brighton have basically been immune to any sort of criticism for a couple of years now. Their League 1 team of 2010-11 was wondrous; they’re gradually becoming one of the UK’s foremost community clubs; the easy transition last season from the Withdean to Falmer was the kind of move that the majority of football supporters will only get to realise in their imaginations … the list goes on…

Rival fans given to feelings of envy must have been indebted, then, to the person who rubber stamped 2011-12’s away kit, The Two Unfortunates’ Worst Kit winner this year. One word that has been used to describe the lime green and black outfit is ‘striking’, the adjective adopted by Albion’s official site upon launch, although we’re not so sure that others will have been as polite.

Honourable mentions go to Gillingham’s gaudy pink away strip, highly visible on shots of the Rainham End during various highlights from the Priestfield; Forest’s uncomfortable-looking collar; Sheffield Wednesday’s slate grey number and Yeovil’s Stabilo Boss tribute.
