Three new essays to feast on as the month draws to a close:

Rob Doolan has already left his mark for TTU [2] with two highly entertaining posts for us in recent weeks but he’s also been active on his own site [3]. Former Torquay United wunderkind Lee Sharpe made a valiant attempt to match George Best’s antics on and off the pitch in his day and it’s sad to recount that he ended up achieving a lot less notoriety in both arenas.

Hunting in Pairs: Vialli and Mancini, Sampdoria, Regista [4]

Michael Moruzzi’s writing has been a highlight of the soccersphere for some time now, both at his own Regista [5] site and at the now defunct The FCF. Here, he brings back memories of Serie A’s early nineties heyday and the on pitch exploits of two would be English league managers. Just don’t mention Ramon Vega.

Real Oviedo – the remarkable story of a club the world united to save, The Guardian [6]

Finally, the ever excellent Sid Lowe tells the story of a momentous few weeks for Real Oviedo, absent from Spain’s top echelon for over a decade now despite giving birth to three of the stars of this 2013 English Premier League season.
