When Andy Gray, as was his wont, offered Norwich City’s then 19-year-old striker some sage advice about a young player having to get used to robust tackles if he was to make it in the Premier League, even the former Sky analyst’s famed levels of prescience probably didn’t foresee that Jamie Cureton would be enjoying his first and last season of top flight football while still only a teenager. Cureton had just been clattered by the Ipswich Town goalkeeper, Craig Forrest, in the run-up to a goal scored by Darren Eadie that capped a 3-0 win for the Canaries at…

On a Road to Colchester
What with one thing and another, I’d only seen one game this season before Saturday. That might be acceptable for most; hell, given my team’s current form it’s actually quite respectable, but since I like to spend my spare time airing my opinions on here, I tend to start feeling a little sheepish if I miss too many games in a row.It was inevitable, then, that I made the journey to Colchester on Saturday when I realised that it was only 45 minutes outside of London Liverpool Street. With the pre-season almost upon us, and a day bereft of World Cup action, our two ex-League 1 supporters took some time to reflect on the previous campaign.Stanley: On a personal note, the season started sluggishly, but ended in celebration, victory in the play-off final providing a just reward for a hard-working and ruthless Millwall team. But what of the other 23 clubs? Despite opening with a catastrophe, Norwich City finished the season as deserved Champions, while Leeds United finally made the upward move they have craved since taking up residence in the third tier. Others who left their imprint…
