What Price Success?

Having only made his move to Wigan official at the start of the week, Roberto Martinez has moved quickly to clinch the signing of Jordi Gomez, undoubtedly the star player of Martinez’s 2008/09 Swansea side.

It will be interesting to see how Gomez fares at top-flight level. While I witnessed a quiet performance from the winger during the Swans’ 4-0 drubbing at Reading last September, his touch, grace and creative wingplay were obvious, and a series of stunning free-kicks cemented his place in the league’s PFA XI.

With Martinez sparring with Owen Coyle over Swansea’s other PFA XI selected player, Jason Scotland, it looks like the Jacks are in for a tough Summer.
