TTU Awards 2009/2010: Bargain Buy of the Season

Recently featured in our Monday Profile feature, in the wake of a skimming drive to keep Crystal Palace in the division, Darren Ambrose’s future is uncertain at the time of posting; his ex-gaffer Neil Warnock clearly fancying a repeat performance from the silken midfielder a few miles to the northwest of his current home. Whether the ex-Tractor Boy ends up at Loftus Road or not, his one season at the Palace provided rare succour for the Addicksphobic Simon Jordan, captured as he was on an inspired Bosman after losing his way somewhat at Charlton. Prominent in a strong field of 09-10 midfield marksmen, Ambrose’s goals put the Eagles on the brink of the play offs before Agilo came a knocking, and then helped stave off despair at the end.

Honourable mentions to Charlie Adam (if this were the Oscars, he’d hog the headlines for being nominated for the most awards, although £500,000 is a big fee by Tangerine standards) and Lee Camp (100k for the PFA’s choice as number one goalie has proved a snip).
