Despite not quite earning promotion to the Premier League, Derby were many ways the most impressive side TTU staffers witnessed this past season and none of their players stood out more than Craig Bryson, who had the season of his career so far, contributing 16 goals from midfield, including two hat-tricks – one of which was against Forest.

Honourable mentions for Danny Drinkwater, who’s been immaculate when we’ve seen him play and was perhaps the best player in the best Football League’s foremost team this season; Ross McCormack, the Championship’s leading scorer, and Sam Baldock, whose goals kept coming throughout another pretty miserable season at Ashton Gate. Finally, a word on Bryson’s Pride Park teammate, John Eustace, who provided the kind of robust platform that allowed the Rams’ young stars to play; Watford fans must continue to rue the day that they let him go to Derby last summer.

2011-12 winner: Mile Jedinak
2011-12 winner: Rickie Lambert
2010-11 winner: Adel Taarabt
2009-10 winner: Charlie Adam
