A quick pointer to some of the other activities which the denizens of The Two Unfortunates have been indulging in lately before we hunker down to the serious business of today’s league programme – myself at the Mad Stad and Lloyd at Sixfields.

First, if you would relish an hour or so’s chat about the Football League, Lloyd made his debut on the most recent Two Footed Tackle podcast and the results can be enjoyed here. Joining Lloyd to talk about the League 2 promotion battle, the seeming financial clover of AFC Bournemouth and which sides may be joining us next year were some time TTU contributors Gary Andrews and Ben Mayhew as well as Chris Nee of In Bed With Maradona and The Stiles Council.

Talking of IBWM, I contributed my third post to that fine compendium a fortnight or so ago now – a look at the hold football has secured in the imagination of pop rocker Rod Stewart, while additional moonlighting has been indulged in with a brand new piece in issue 4 of Jonathan Wilson’s football quarterly The Blizzard – a study entitled Continental Drift and analysing the varying fortunes of the Kazakh and Uzbek national teams with a dose of geopolitics thrown in. As you may know, The Blizzard is available for subscription digitally or in luscious hard copy on a pay what you like basis and every issue thus far has been a real feast of excellent writing.

We should also not forget to plug the primary activities of two more of our team – Ben’s Black & White & Read All Over is one of the longest standing blogs on the internet now and its quality remains very high indeed, while John McGee’s Bring Me the Head of Keith Mincher recently underwent a snazzy relaunch accompanied by a real burst of fascinating stuff, not least a programme of interviews with ex-Brunton Park heroes – indeed, Lloyd has already graced its pages with a super guest post.
